new music tuesday

Well kids, I'm still working on the list, so I'll be updating this throughout the day, but I really wanted to be able to post this video from Toronto singer Lights (and yes, that's her real name. She actually had it legally changed. Kids these days.) Though I dug some of her singles, a lot of her promo stuff seemed centered around "Oh, Lights is so pretty. Lights is a sex kitten." Seriously. I mean, I guess it fits the whole pop scene, and it's by no means trashy or Britney-esque or anything, but it doesn't exactly inspire me to go out and download her album, y'know? Then I had a chance to see her perform on MTV Canada (which has been cranking out two pretty great, funny, and loaded with tasty new music goodness, shows: MTV Live, and the Aftershow. I know, right? Music? On MTV? Go figure.) And honestly, she was so sweet and humble, and there was no auto-tune (DOA.), and then she performed "February Air" acoutiscally, and now I covet her hair. And that's just how it goes. Check it out below: Image above from here.

not-so new music tuesday...

Man alive, what a crazy stupid couple weeks it's been! Super sorry for the lack of posts, but I PROMISE I'll make it up to you, right quick here. So without further ado, here's my most recent purchases with extra servings of coffins, Newfies, and angst, not necessarily in that order! Image from here. Accidental Housewife's New Music for 03/11
Dear Jack (acoustic version), Jack's Mannequin (cuz y'know I love me some piano)
Black Swan (acoustic), Athlete (a fluke that there's two acoustic versions in a row, I promise)
Remedy, Little Boots (this would've been SO good on a Halloween play list!)
Medicate, AFI (Remedy then Medicate... maybe I need to go to the doctor???)
Boys in the Band, Jaydee Bixby (with a name like that, how could he have NOT become a country singer?!)
Real Thing, the Higgins
8:30 Newfoundland, Mike Plume Band (the first time I heard this was on Canada Day, and I ended up rolling down the windows and yelling it proudly at the top of my lungs... if you wonder what Canada is like outside of Van, or TO, or Montreal, this is a pretty decent intro.)
Keep on Lovin' You, Steel Magnolias (winner for cheeziest band name of the week?)
My Boy Builds Coffins, Florence + the Machine (hands down my fave tune of the week!)
Girl With One Eye, Florence + the Machine
Uprising, Muse
