dayum...

So, I'm not really a Twilight fan... I've never read the books *dodges hardcover copy of Eclipse thrown at head by deranged fan* and I found the movie to be laughably bad. And I hate hate hate what they've done to RPats (he was SO cute in the Potter movies, not to mention seeming way more sincere). Take yourself seriously much, Rob?? But I gotta say, I'm kind of looking forward to the new movie. It seems like it's much better directed, and I am ALL about Mr.Lautner and his wolf pack. He was the only thing I liked about the first movie, so to see him come to the forefront of this one will def have me buying a ticket. Oh, and the promos are pretty steamy this time around, too. Let's have a good ol' fashioned DAYUM for our emo couple, shall we? Images from here. Oh and I want her shoes SO BAD!

hehe! SMILE!

So, I've bitched before about the whole "glare at the camera cuz we're too cool to smile" wedding pics before... But, really a pic is worth a thousand words... just like this. SEE?! SMILING! And she looks amazing! It makes me want to have been at her wedding. You know. As opposed to thinking "Wow. She looks beautiful. It's too bad her wedding day sucked so bad that she looks pissed off in every picture." Happy=good. Take note. Image from here by Sloan Photographers.

What can I say? Amazing shoes, completely handmade (no, seriously. COMPLETELY hand-made), and from the 'Peg (though not for long! Good luck with the move, kids!) I can just imagine how awesome these would look peeking out from the bottom of a wedding dress... or a pair of jeans, for that matter! And man, don't they just look SO comfy?! Check out their Etsy store here.

other people's weddings: Debi & Dave

So, what can I say? I think there's finally been enough time since the end of my own wedding planning that I can begin to enjoy and appreciate the fun of it again! Trust me... by the day after I wanted NOTHING to do with weddings! It was SO nice to just NOT troll the blogs, buy the mags, etc. But they are SO pretty. And it can be SUCH a big help to find inspiration when you're planning your own, so I figure, maybe, once in a while, I'll post some pretties. Sound good? So with no further ado I give you a couple pics that seriously had me shouting (ok, not shouting out loud, per se, but definitely in my head!) "Oh, my god! That's MY idea!" Embellished flats? check. Sleek grey suit/tie? check. Peony, lamb's ear, and anemone bouquet? check. (my peonies bloomed a little too early and apparently I simply could NOT order anemones here. bummer. so I did roses and peony buds, which actually turned out pretty cute.) Pretty, simple hair? check. Yeah, you get the idea... Image found here.

dayum.

I love this woman sooo much. Isn't she just out of control? Seriously, she's just been pushed to the top of my "list"... You know the one: the if you could "meet" *wink* five celebrities, without consequence, who would you choose? Yeah, *happy sigh* I heart her. Also, I would commit murder for that outfit, shoes, dress, the works. You've been warned. Images from Esquire by Sheryl Nields.

i want to be her

Apparently she's Eva, and the Sartorialist was shooting her for Italian Elle... so I'm sure this is all just a setup and pretend and whatnot, but I do not care. The smile, the hat, dress, shoes, even the bike and the street. This is like a junior high creative writing assignment waiting to happen! And now that I think about it, telll me this wouldn't be the CUTEST wedding getup!

oh, those crazy brits!

Now why doesn't anyone over here think of this! Those are cute little ballet flats that are sold in VENDING MACHINES in clubs and restaurants for about 7 pounds, or about $13cdn! Let me tell you, after a night of hard dancing that would have been a STEAL! Now we just need to have them come across the pond! UPDATE! Apparently they're working on offering them in some form for weddings and special events?! Seriously, someone needs to let me know if this is as fab as it sounds!

other people's weddings: Christine & Charles

Hoo boy... this one was kind of slow building for me. At first I was like, "oh man, those masks are awesome. How "Breakfast at Tiffany's"!" Then peonies. And a short-haired bride. And vintage, gold Ebay shoes. And a vintage dress. And vintage Modern Bride (oy, I wish I had thought of that!). And awesome shades. Um, yeah. I'm sold. You? click your heels three times

ruby slippers
So, I've got this lovely girlfriend in need of some shoes inspiration... Though I haven't been lucky enough to see her dress ( poopy...) apparently it's got deep red and black embroidery, and she mentioned that she NEEDS to have flats (being an Amazon has at least some drawbacks, though few). And, well, couldn't help myself. Just a little this and that for yer own ruby slippers. oooh... sparkly.

So, who's going to make me happy by telling me they're gonna be wearing these pretties from Denisebrain? They're a size 8, though they're from the 50s so you're probably best off going by the measurements listed on the site. Oh, and the best part? $22. That's right. I'm here for you guys *wink*.

off to see the wizard

So, I had a flash of inspiration the other day that I've been busy tracking down links for today. I think I've solved a bunch of my colour, or lack of, problems! Little hint? I am SERIOUSLY considering these for Monkey's shoes... Killer, right? Shoes: Converse from Zappos

other people's weddings: Lisa & Todd

Hella Yella, kids! I know this wedding's been featured here or there before, but I never realized just HOW killah it was! Typically, I just ever saw the bride's dress, and really, only because it was yellow... but duuuuuuude! The pics I saw don't come CLOSE to touching on HOW stylish this sucka is! Nice work, folks! $30 1930s Ebay shoes??!! Heck yes!

inspired by booze

And it's not even me doing the tippling (this time!) Remember this post??? Yeah, I didn't think so... But how funny is it that Polka Dot Bride just created a whole board around my fave wobbly pop! HAHA! Loves it! Nicely done!

happy happy joy joy

Kids, I need to stop checking my email right before bed: there's always something there that makes me cranky. But when you wake up to find this pic from Sweet Monday Photography on Flickr, well, I couldn't help but smile. If it wasn't for the fact that A. has finally broken down and admitted that he just wants to wear cowboy boots (he kept maintaining that he would just wear rental shoes... I was pretty sure that wasn't going to last!) I would TOTALLY be trying to con (oops! I mean gently convince!) him into scoring crazy socks like these!

rainbow-brite: flats edition

And now for all of you ladies wincing at the idea of the shoes in the previous post: all flats Rainbow-Brite edition! All the shoes shown below are available for purchase online (yay!) to help out all my ladies, like myself who don't exactly have a Saks on the next street corner (I've got a Co-op grocery store and Miza-Lee's Dairy Saloon on the next corner, and NO, I am NOT kidding!) From top-left: Chie Mihara, 786 Shop, Heels.com (Talasi), Amazon UK (Irregular Choice), Browns Fashion (Marc Jacobs), AsiaJam, Zappos (Juicy Couture).

and back to the bottom: rainbow style

So, I just stopped by Elizabeth Anne Designs blog and read this great post where she describes herself as "the strange hybrid of girl who loves running around barefoot in a party dress as much as I love dreaming of splurging on the most expensive of beautiful shoes. My vast collection of Old Navy flip flops shares the same closet as stacks of shoe boxes holding dust bag-clad pumps and they coexist quite happily." Um, hello sister, welcome to my brain. So, here we are again, with yet ANOTHER shoe post (I know, I know. It's a sickness.) But I felt bad about only posting on "traditional" wedding-coloured shoes. So for all my shoe-fiend sisters, here's some of my finds, all conveniently available online! from top-left: Net-A-Porter (Charlotte Olympia), eluxury (Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti), Browns Fashion (Alexander McQueen), Lori's Shoes (Steve Madden), Ami Club Wear (on sale for $3.99! Seriously!), Wet Seal (on sale for $9.99), Heels.com (Jessica Simpson), Zappos (DSquared)

once again, from the bottom

So I've run into a little blogging dilemma... As I've gotten further ahead with wedding planning I find myself with fewer problems to solve, and thus, less to blog about! But I've got a little bit of new inspiration, so here goes nothin'! So I suppose a lot of what I'll be posting might not relate directly to my own wedding, but maybe more so how I would do it under different circs, or advice/products/ideas that I'd love to see other brides getting the chance to use... which, really is what I wanted to do all along! So I figure let's start at the feet and work our way up, shall we?

So I'm going to try to keep all my finds relegated to services that can be easily found online (which exceptions, obvs, but I'll try REALLY hard, I swear!)

So shoes, yes? How about these lovelies from Zappos,Bluefly(Stuart Weitzman),Overstock.com (Emilio Pucci), Victoria's Secret (Colin Stuart)
You know I love a ruffle, right?
Oooooohhhhh... sparkly...
Something blue? Yep, yep!
And just in case you thought I was too stuck on the whole "white=wedding" thing... (but let's face it, that'll be a whole OTHER post!) I do love me some eyelet.

my monkey the hipster (no training required)

When Monkey was in the womb, I was still working in the music store so I think she may have had an, um, interesting inoculation... The kid is never happier than when she's naked, rocking out to whatever (though she has a bizarre fondness for AC/DC... weirdo.) So would it not be fitting to let her rock out in these Cons??? Am I scarring her for life??? Or is this not the awesome-est thing evah? Off I go now to at least try to find some girlier version (though I think I'm stuck on the high-tops). So it'll be a swiss-dot, vintage sundress for Monkey with Cons... Her dad's going to kill me. (HA! Let 'im try!)
