diy: "snow" curtain

So, I've been on the lookout for a way to dress up the HUGE but ugly hall windows and/or create a backdrop in the park for our ceremony... Could this project be the trick? One concern? How do I transport/store this so it doesn't turn into a nightmare the day of? I'm thinking maybe the key would be to attach the top and bottom of each strand with tape to one piece of looooong paper, and then just roll the paper into a tube. Images from Craftstylish.

Easily the coolest-dressed wedding party I've ever seen. At a bare minimum the coolest I've ever seen from out here in the frozen tundra *wink*! From Genevieve: "As for the boys, Eben and I shopped around at different suit stores and couldn't find anything we thought represented us or what we wanted (fun/style/laidback but classy), in the end we walked into Le Chateau where we found everything! The vests, the scarves, the shirts and pants! Eben and I are big into scarves so it was a give-in that that was the way to go, but he had to stand out, so he got the cool triangular shaped one which is checkered with black, and the other guys got straight long gold ones. And the great part is that Le Chateau is country-wide so we could get my "man of honour" (who would be dressing like Eben's guys but with the gold shirt instead, who was in Montreal to just go to a store there...)

Pretties behind our heads

So, I've put less effort into the ceremony details than maybe I should have, but I do at least try to keep an eye out for inspiring (and cheap, don't forget cheap!) ideas for ways to "fancy up" our venue (clump of trees... fancy, right?). And that's how I came across this bit of gorgeousness from Desert Bride. And now that I'm brainstorming, I wonder if you couldn't actually string a curtain rod with beautiful curtains directly from the branches above to provide a backdrop for the ceremony? Like, if you used heavy gage, clear fishing line and made a point to weight the bottom of the curtains, it could be SO pretty!

Veranda Ribbons???

Sooo... the hall I've booked has this "veranda" for lack of a better word off the side of it with pillars running along it. Hey, wait! I've got a picture! Here it is:

Get it? Good! I knew you were a smart one! Anyhoo... I saw this great idea to hand ribbons with silk flowers threaded on them but then... I saw it actually done in this month's Martha Weddings and, well kids, it's crazy busy... Like bad. BUT I think just hanging ribbons by themselves would still be super pretty. And it could easily echo what I have in mind for our ceremony. Namely:
